RE-RIDE
Second-hand · riders only
Manifesto

The right gear, for the right rider, at the right price.

Re-Ride is the dedicated second-hand marketplace for watersports equipment — built by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. We bring the spec-depth of a brand-new equipment store to the used market, so finding a 145L freeride windsurf board with a Tuttle fin box is a 30-second filter, not a 2-hour scroll.

The problem

Watersports gear is expensive, seasonal, and deeply personal. A kiteboard for a 75 kg rider in 15-knot winds is a completely different object than one for a 95 kg rider in 25 knots. Volume, rocker, fin system, mast length, boom size — these specs decide whether a piece of gear works or collects dust. Generic marketplaces treat a surfboard like a piece of furniture. The only filter is a search bar. Re-Ride was built to close that gap.

When enthusiasts want to sell or buy second-hand, they go to Facebook Marketplace, eBay, or Craigslist. These platforms treat a surfboard like a piece of furniture. The only filter is a search bar. The result: hours wading through irrelevant listings, missed connections between the right buyer and the right board, and gear sitting unsold because the person who needs it cannot find it. This is the gap we close.

Who we build for

The committed enthusiast

Our primary user rides multiple disciplines, owns multiple boards, and upgrades gear regularly. They know exactly what they want and will pay the right price for it — if they can find it. They are frustrated by platforms that were never built for them.

We also welcome:

  • Schools and rental centers rotating their fleet
  • Pros selling sponsor hand-offs
  • Parents buying a first board for a kid without overpaying

What we are not

  • Not a forum or a social network — we are a marketplace.
  • Not competing with eBay on breadth. We win by going deeper on one vertical.
  • Not onboarding every casual seller. We curate for quality.
  • Not building for the long tail until the core use case is perfect.

The disciplines we cover

Surf

The original. High equipment turnover, rich spec vocabulary.

Windsurf

Complex multi-component gear. Highest filtering need.

Kitesurf

Fast-moving tech cycles. Riders upgrade frequently.

Wing-Foil

Fastest-growing discipline. Early adopters trading up.

Prone Foil

Niche but passionate. Spec filtering is critical.

Pump Foil

Emerging. Low volume now, high growth trajectory.

Wakeboard

Large, established second-hand market.

Wakesurf

Overlaps with the wakeboard community.

We add disciplines when the community has a spec vocabulary worth encoding — not before.

The filtering philosophy

01

Spec, not keyword

Every discipline gets its own attribute schema — length, volume, shaper and fin system for surf; diameter, IMCS and carbon for a windsurf mast. Generic marketplaces cannot do this. We can, because we built it discipline-first.

02

Progressive filters

A casual buyer filters by discipline and rough price. An expert drills down to exact specs. Nobody is forced into complexity they do not need.

03

Standardized condition

A condition scale that means something — Like new, Good, Worn, Damaged, Broken. No more "excellent condition" listings where the board has a snapped fin and three dings.

The business model

Re-Ride takes a small transaction fee on completed sales. That is the only revenue source we care about at launch. No listing fees — friction kills supply. No ads — they degrade trust. No premium placement — it corrupts search relevance. The marketplace grows when buyers find what they need and sellers move gear quickly. Every feature decision serves that outcome or gets cut.
